Vita

Born in Indiana, USA, my first stay in Berlin was in the mid-1960’s. I returned nearly a decade later for graduate studies at the Free University of Berlin.

My works were first shown in the late 1970’s: solo-exhibitions of my Berlin watercolors in the galleries Niebuhr and Bossen in Berlin, a showing of my oil paintings in the Woelffer Gallery in Berlin and annual participation in the citywide Free Berlin Art Exhibition. Since then my works have been shown around Germany and in the United States.

I was accepted as a member of the Kuenstlersonderbund, a nation-wide association of prominent artists in Germany that was founded in 1990 to promote contemporary realism. I have since participated in its showings and served as a member of its executive committee from 2007 to 2010. In 2010 I was curator of the exhibition "Subject:Realism" to commemorate the 20th anniversery of the Künstlersonderbund with 100 artists participating from all over Germany.

My English wife Mary Molchan is also a painter. Her works can be viewed at www.mary-molchan.de
